RuWCED is a nationally accredited NGO that works to promote the health, education, livelihoods, human rights and development of rural women, girls, youths and children. In our operations, specific attention is paid to; women/girls’ Sexual and Reproductive Health rights (SRHR), women/girls’ educational and economic empowerment as well as combating all forms of Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) towards enabling women/girls to be at the center of issues concerning their bodily autonomy and livelihoods.
Our priority target population are rural/ indigenous women/girls, IDP women/girls, adolescent mothers, women/girls living with disabilities, women/girls living with HIV/AIDS, Women Household Heads (WHH) and sex workers. In terms of geographic scope, RuWCED focuses most of its programmatic work in the North West Region of Cameroon where there is an ongoing-armed conflict and in the West Region where there are many IDPs. RuWCED has offices in these two regions of Cameroon but implements projects in other regions of the country as well.
We work in collaboration with community-based women groups, health facilities, schools, traditional justice systems as well as local administrative departments and authorities. We also explore and extend the relationship between access to economic resources, women's health and women's human rights in a bit to promote a humanistic vision of bodily integrity and well-being.
