The Rural Women Vocational Institute of Education and Development (RuWVIED), the vocational training arm of RuWCED Cameroon, has today 16th April 2021, issued a certificate of completion of training in fashion and designing to one of the trainees who completed her two years training in Fashion and Designing. She happily wore her robe and celebrated with guests. Presently, there are 22 trainees at our center.
These dozens of a new cohort of trainees at the Fashion and Design department of RuWVIED have shown great improvement since they began their training several months ago. According to the Coordinator of the department, the training lasts for at most three years but some students, depending on their performance, can complete it for two years. After every one year, the trainees go for a one month internship. Students who are currently on internship are doing well and have been sewing different cloth designs. Since the start of the ongoing conflict, over 30 young girls have been trained from this department. Some of the graduates have successfully opened their own tailoring workshop and shared that work is moving well. One of them was able to sew some robes which gave her a lot of income and said that she has never stopped thanking and acknowledging the organisation for helping her start it up.
RuWVIED is the vocational training arm of RuWCED which was created in 2013 and got accredited or approved by the ministry of Employment and Vocational Training of Cameroon in 2017.
