The fresh batch comes few weeks after the graduation of the previous cohort. 20 girls who successfully completed the three-month training on SRHR and fight against VAWG, graduated from Girls Club in Bamenda.
The graduation ceremony started at 12 noon with a word of welcome and introduction from our Lead Nurse, Yimtsa Loveline and RuWCED Bamenda Coordinator, Akuro Forsab. They thanked the girls for their dedication, resilience and commitment throughout the training.
The Reproductive Health Consultant, David Ayem gave the last talks on cervical cancer, family planning and contraception. The presentation was interactive as participants asked more questions and got satisfactory response from the expert. After the last health education, the girls were trained on how to produce and market detergents and air fresher. The practical session was interesting as everyone was anxiously engaged in every activity. They were happy to know that it would be a good source of income for them.
At the end of the ceremony, each girl received financial support from RuWCED to start-up a business after the training. Certificates were also given to all participants who completed the training. Prizes were also awarded to the most punctual and active participant.
Speaking to graduates, they expressed their joy and gratitude to RuWCED for organising such an educative and entertaining program like the Girls Club. They separately enumerated all they learned and affirmed that they are more conscious of their SRHR and measures to take in times of rights violations. They also said that they will take these messages and entrepreneurship skills home, teach their peers and strive to engage in programs that will further educate and empower them.
